How you can use BenefitsLedger.
Last updated: August 5, 2026
What this is
BenefitsLedger is an independent research site that analyzes the public U.S. Department of Labor Form 5500 dataset. The audits published here are general informational content sourced from public filings.
Nothing on BenefitsLedger is legal, tax, fiduciary, or insurance advice. The audits are starting points for a fiduciary review — not a substitute for one. Always confirm findings against your current plan documents and your own counsel before any plan-design, broker-compensation, or carrier-selection decision.
Acceptable use
You may:
- Run audits on any company you have a legitimate research interest in.
- Print, save, and forward the audit pages.
- Cite BenefitsLedger in articles, presentations, or internal documents with attribution.
You may not:
- Scrape or bulk-download the site programmatically.
- Misrepresent yourself as a representative of BenefitsLedger.
- Use the audits to harass, intimidate, or extort any company or individual.
- Resell or rebrand the audits as your own product.
Independent research disclosure
BenefitsLedger may receive compensation from partner companies that you choose to engage after running an audit. That compensation does not influence the analysis or scoring shown on this site. The methodology is published in full so any reader can verify how a score was built.
BenefitsLedger is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Labor, EBSA, or any insurance carrier. We are not a law firm, insurance broker, ERISA counsel, or financial advisor.
Source data accuracy
Form 5500 filings are submitted by plan sponsors to EBSA and released publicly through EFAST2. We use the filings as received. They can run 12–18 months behind the most recent plan year, and they can contain errors made by the original filer. We make a reasonable effort to surface confidence levels where the underlying data is ambiguous, but we don't guarantee the accuracy of the source filings themselves.
No warranties
The site is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BenefitsLedger and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to lost profits, business interruption, or reputational harm.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
